Dr. Nazma Akter, MD, CCFP
A Physician and Community Worker, Chief Executive -Funday IsCool

Dr. Nazma Akter is a highly esteemed physician and community worker who has dedicated her career to serving the Muslim ummah. She has a passion for family medicine and a deep commitment to nurturing a healthy community. She is an educator and advocate for social change.

Dr. Nazma’s professional journey as a physician has spanned over an era. With her extensive knowledge and experience, she has provided comprehensive healthcare services to individuals and families, ensuring their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Her compassionate and patient-centered approach has earned her the trust and admiration of her patients. Beyond her medical practice, Dr. Nazma is deeply involved in community work. Since 2008, she has been actively engaged in various initiatives aimed at building a healthy and inclusive community in Edmonton. she has tirelessly worked to raise Bangladeshi children as good Canadian citizens while fostering their Muslim faith, Bangladeshi heritage, and values. Dr. Nazma has founded numerous programs and organizations. As a firm believer in lifelong learning, Dr. Nazma established the Journey to Success (J2S) non-profit organization with some dedicated brothers and sisters of the community. Funday IsCool is her brainchild. Dr. Nazma also dedicates her time to women's Islamic education and actively supports initiatives aimed at helping the underprivileged. Her commitment to empowering women and advocating for their rights has made her a role model for aspiring female leaders within the community.

Through her tireless efforts, she continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of those she serves, working towards a healthier, more inclusive, and prosperous community for all.

Sadia Afroze, LL.B, LL.M, PGD in Educational Leadership and B.Ed
Principal- Funday IsCool

Sadia Afroze, a highly trained and accomplished professional with a diverse background in law, education, leadership, community engagement. She has deep passion for learning. Sadia's insatiable appetite for knowledge is evident in her extensive personal library, which boasts a collection of over 700 books. Sadia's career journey began with a strong commitment to fighting for child and adolescent rights, gender justice, and combating inequality and injustice. After completion of her Bachelor of Laws and Masters of Law degrees, from International Islamic University Malaysia, she embarked on a fulfilling career as a lawyer, specializing in civil laws. Throughout her legal profession, she remained steadfast in her disdain for any form of inequality and injustice, motivating her to seek further opportunities to make a meaningful impact.

Sadia is a certified teacher in Canada. She has already made a significant impact as a full-time teacher at Al-Mustafa Academy and substitute teacher for the Edmonton Public Schools Board and the Edmonton Islamic Academy. Her experience of working and studying in various countries has provided her with a profound understanding of the identity crisis issues and challenges faced by Bangladeshi Muslim youngsters. This unique perspective and insight have led her to collaborate with "Funday IsCool," where she aims to develop a comprehensive program that addresses the specific identity challenges faced by our Bangladeshi Muslim students.

Going back, inspired by her desire for social change, Sadia pursued the Teach for Bangladesh fellowship. Through this fellowship, Sadia developed a deep understanding of the various mindsets prevalent among different age groups and communities. She embarked on her teaching career at an underdeveloped Government School in Lalbagh, Dhaka, where she actively contributed to the education of young minds while pursuing her third degree in Educational Leadership from BRAC University.

After her move to Canada in 2019, she served as a Child Care Educator at the YMCA of Northern Alberta for almost six months. She volunteered as a Mentor for the youth organization "Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters," further enriching her understanding of the challenges faced by young individuals. Her passion for reading and continuous learning has led her to share her insights through book reviews on various social media platforms. Sadia's diverse experience.
